Cyber Chicken Showdown
Cyber Chicken Showdown is a 1v1 match-3 fighting game where two players choose their chicken out of 5 unique characters and go against each other in versus combat.
Cyber Chicken Showdown is the first game I made with a group. Our team of seven, D6, worked on the game over one semester so it could go to 8-Bit Arcade in Peoria, IL; however, it lived past the semester and got approved to be in Bradley's FUSE 2026 event. In the future, we plan to upload it to Steam after adding more content.
Producing
Producing for CCS was smooth sailing since my team was great at communicating. Tasks were organized through weekly producer reports, which had to be signed by everyone, and Trello boards.
Outside of class time, we had team meetings once a week that were supposed be one hour; however, many of them lasted up to three hours because nobody left.

Programming
Things I programmed include...
-
Match-3 game
-
Combat linked with animators
-
Unique supers that interact with the Match-3 mechanics
-
Easy input switching system
-
Brief tutorial

'DoMatchesExist' is used to check if there are any possible matches on the board by looping through each piece on the board. It 'faux swaps' the current piece with a piece next to it and checks if it would have made a match before faux swapping back. As soon as a possible match is found, the method returns true. If no matches are found, the board will be reshuffled.

'ChangePercentOfPiecesToElement' will switch a percent of the pieces on the board to an element. It does this by finding the number of pieces that need to be changed, changing them, and adding the changed to a list; checking to see that no matches are made due to the changes; then entering a while loop that goes until the percent of pieces have been changed and no matches have been made. This method is used for Guy Fiery's super.
